Suzumiya Haruhi: Drama CD
Posted in zero thoughts by moyism on January 24th, 2007

I’ll have a more thorough summary of the CD tomorrow since it’s getting rather late, but much to say the recent Suzumiya Haruhi: Drama CD was a kick to listen to. Basically a continuation of sorts from “Live A Live”, the SOS-Dan venture in the fun filled world of band making. Most of the CD has the crew dragging their feet on Haruhi’s latest pursuit, but Haruhi being Haruhi still get the gang into a few pinches.
Two quick highlights I have to mention:
- At one point Haruhi was able to mix several versions of the song she’s trying to create for the SOS-Dan band-in-making. Trying to find the right sound, she forces everyone to sing at one point with different versions of the song. Anytime Mikuru was up, it was like listening to the song from the Mikuru movie if not “worse.” I have to say Yuko Goto did an awesome job singing horribly in that Mikuru way. Yuk, meanwhile,i actually sounded like a normal person sort of singing as I guess even Minori Chihara can’t sing fully with a Yuki-ish tone of voice. The best, and most hilarious, had to be when Kyon and Itsuki were singing/rapping. Yes, I kid you not.
- Something like the Cave Cricket Incident happens and the SOS-Dan minus Haruhi end up in an alternative dimension. Without getting into too much detail, at one point all the members sounded like Haruhi! I almost fell off my bed when I was listening to this track as Aya Hirano pretty much nailed everyone else’s characters’ personalities and tone(s) of voice. Initially I didn’t even realize Mikuru’s voice was Aya Hirano’s until Kyon (or Mikuru) mentioned how everyone sounded like Haruhi. Mad props to Aya Hirano for voicing literally all of SOS-Dan.
Honestly ff you haven’t listened to the drama CD yet, go do so now! Go!
UPDATE: Check here instead as someone else has already done the translations!
